From my own experience gained through teaching both at nursery level and at KS2 these games and supporting flashcards, worksheets and themed stories have been created to help other teachers stimulate very young children to speak French.
The resources support many National Curriculum topics and can be used in conjunction with approved schemes of work to enrich the language learning experience of primary pupils.
The use of repetition and the physical handling of the picture-cards in easy KS1 game playing such as picture lotto or matching pairs helps "fix" the new language in the memory. Grammar and sentence structure is then practised through harder KS2 games such as putting the correct adjective with the item of clothing, or choosing the correct weather for the day of the week or month/season or filling your shopping basket with items from a list. Each resources CD contains games at both levels so there is real progression in learning.
The worksheets can be used in conjunction with the flashcards and games to monitor the pupils' progress.
Each themed story about Sophie and Nicolas brings together all the learning elements of the topic.
Children are learning in a "fun" atmosphere and do not feel intimidated. Even shy pupils will want to speak French!
Praise from other teachers: "Really helps with my lesson planning"
"Games are fun...they want to keep on playing!"
